A few images from a recent shoot of sculptures by J D Fergusson.  One of the images is destined for a large print advert in international art magazine, Apollo.  I'm interested to see what the designer will do with it.

Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society Annual Review

I recently photographed the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society annual review.  It was held in the fantastic setting of the Scottish Parliament building's Garden Lobby.  Colin Keir, MSP, was in attendance and guest speaker, he is a long-standing supporter of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and its cultural, social and economic contribution to the city.
The venue, although great, was another dark one so I had to put the ISO right up and rely on the four stops of image stabilisation that Canon claim their L series lenses can achieve.

A big ship that didn't sink this week

I took this image at Ocean Terminal a few days ago; long exposure and a small f-stop to get some starburst effect from the lights.  Originally I had intended to use multiple exposures to create an HDR image but unfortunately it was very windy so the camera moved fractionally between exposures!

Works of Jacqueline Ryan and Jim Partridge

A few photos from a recent job to create the marketing material for an exhibition of work by Jacqueline Ryan and Jim Partridge.  The brief was to capture the high contrast between Jacqueline's gold necklace and Jim's black table. Photographing jewellery is always a challenge but I'm pleased with the final results and the way the necklace moves made it a very interesting subject that has a surprising amount of dynamism for an inanimate object.
